Maker Space Lead Tech Educator
Skill Mill NYC has an opening for a Lead Tech Educator to teach electronics, digital design and crafts to children and adults. We are looking for someone who can run Arduino/ microprocessor and beginner robotics classes, as well as digital design and fabrication workshops and help manage the general operations of our facility.
The Lead Tech Educator position is an opportunity to participate in a successful, growing hands-on education program for kids and adults. You must be able teach:
- basic electronics
- beginning robotics
- Tinkercad
- Arduino and similar products
- Engineering fundamentals
- Experience working with laser cutting and 3D printing
- A fondness for cardboard, wood and other laser cutter compatible materials.
- Communication skills (comfortable working directly with clients, fielding phone calls, corresponding with customers/instructors and updating website and social media)
- Creative inclinations and comfort with basic tools/craft materials (experience in the arts or Maker movement)
- Passion for sharing knowledge and learning from others-Comfortable working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop…)
- Interest in working in a non-traditional education environment
- A willingness to work some evenings and weekends
- Experience using spreadsheets and databases
- Some familiarity with science, engineering and/or electronics
- An interest in learning new skills
- Experience with and an interest in working with kids
